Elizabeth Louise Hix died Monday, July 16, 2012 at the home of her daughter in Louisburg, Kan.

She was born Aug. 1, 1912 to Dr. William Warren Sweet and Louise Marie Neill Sweet. She was married in 1936 to the Reverend Dr. Clarence Eugene Hix Jr., who preceded her in death by twelve years.

She was a beloved teacher and a warmly enthusiastic, wise, and patient community member for nearly all her 100 years.

Elizabeth is survived by one brother, Richard Sweet of Webster, Wis., all of her five children; Clarence Eugene Hix III of Washington DC, William Wallace Hix of Walsenburg, Colo., Robert Neill Hix of Ellijay, Ga., Anne Louise Gameson of Kansas City, and Mary Elizabeth Bradbury of Louisburg, Kan., 10 grandchildren; Neil Hix, James Hix, Debra Lind, Julie Hix, Andrea Shirley, Jennifer Hix, Joe Gameson, Jr., Jason Bradbury, Whitney Williamson and Kelly Wilson, and nine great-grandchildren; Bethany Hix, Abigale Lind, Evan Hix, Braden Shirley, Bryce Shirley, Katherine Hix, Elizabeth Hix, Jessica Hix and Oscar Williamson.

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. on Friday, July 20, at Linn Memorial United Methodist Church on the Central Methodist University campus in Fayette, with Rev. Lucas Endicott officiating. Visitation is one hour prior to the service.

She was buried the same afternoon beside her husband at Walnut Ridge Cemetery in Fayette.
