Glasgow resident Mildred Thierfelder passed away at Boone Hospital Center in Columbia July 18, 2012. She was 88 years of age.

Mildred Elizabeth Thierfelder was born Nov. 30, 1923 in Des Moines, Iowa, to Andrew Leo and Kathryn (Clark) McMillan. She graduated from Glasgow High School in 1942. Mildred married Phillip G. Thierfelder on Dec. 9, 1945 at the EUB Parsonage in Glasgow and he preceded her in death on Dec. 4, 2011.

She and Phillip operated the concession stand at Gold Star Park for many years and also attended most of Glasgow’s High School sporting events. Mildred enjoyed gardening, growing many varieties of flowers, picking up pecans, mushroom hunting and writing poetry and rhymes.  She was a member of the Glasgow American Legion Auxiliary and the Glasgow United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Thierfelder is survived by two daughters, Sharon (Leo) Himmelberg and Sandy (Michael) Brand, all of Glasgow; four grandchildren, Stacie (Daniel) Finke, Shelly Himmelberg, Megan Brand and Jessica (Matthew) Elson; and seven great-grandchildren, Taylor, Thomas, Sophia, Joseph, Phillip, Miles and Isabel. Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one sister, Genevieve Maupin and two brothers, Leroy and William McMillan, one granddaughter and one great granddaughter.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Monday, July 23 at the EUB Chapel in Glasgow with the Revs. Jim Crooks and Robert Frey and Father Jerry Stockman officiating.

Visitation will be Sunday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Washington Cemetery with Craig Lacey, Matthew Elson, Kevin Haskamp, Braydon Minor, Joseph Woodruff and David Brand serving as pallbearers.

Memorials are suggested to the EUB Chapel or Family’s Choice in care of the funeral home.
