STRONG WINDS uprooted this tree on the Central Methodist
campus in front of Brannock Hall between 4 and 6 a.m. Sunday.

The crushed truck (lower right) belongs to the parents of graduating CMU student Mallory James.

While this area experienced a few downed trees, Central Missouri did not suffer the severe storms which passed through Oklahoma and Missouri late Saturday night, killing at least 21 people. Winds here remained high all day Sunday'from 38 mph at 1:54 a.m. to a tamer 14 mph at 6:54 p.m. as measured at the Columbia Regional Airport.
