Saturday, December 5 in downtown Fayette was a wonderful experience for so many folks as together we kicked off the 2020 Christmas season, pandemic style! There are so many folks who deserve a “thank you” for helping make it such a success!

First, thank you to Janell Dimond who took the lead as the parade chairman, providing leadership and energy to make the event a go! And thank you to Janell’s co-chair Michelle Ishmael, as well. Without the energy and drive of these two ladies, the parade wouldn’t have happened! They spent many hours planning and contacting folks to participate, and it paid off! No doubt that this was perhaps the largest Christmas parade Fayette has seen for many years! Planning is already underway for next year to make it even bigger as we build on the theme of a lighted parade through our beautiful town!

Secondly, related to the parade, a special “thank you” to Don Clear and the CMU security staff for their assistance throughout the afternoon. CMU is a huge partner for Fayette Main Street and a huge part of our community! We thank them!

Also, a big thank you to the Fayette Police Department and city staff for the assistance in assuring that all went well! Thank you to the Howard County Commission for opening up the bandstand for Santa to visit with our local children after the parade!

And of course, a great big thank you to every organization, club, church, family and emergency service provider that participated in the parade, especially the Fayette Fire Department, Howard County Ambulance Service, Armstrong Fire Department, Howard County Health Department, and the Fayette Public Schools! In total, over 47 individual pieces traveled through the streets of Fayette, lights glowing and smiles and shouts of Merry Christmas ringing out! What an evening!

Also, thank you to Carrie Strodtman on the Main Street team who organized, along with the design committee, the Christmas Tree Contest! It is so wonderful to see the buildings lit up with bright holiday lights and spirit! The downtown truly glowed with a festive atmosphere!

We are all so blessed to live, work and play in such a wonderful community and from Fayette Main Street, we thank everyone in our community for being a part of what makes Fayette so great!

So, THANK YOU to each of these folks and the many others that made the day great! And a very Merry Christmas from your Fayette Main Street, Inc. officers, board and staff!
