Posted

The Missouri State High School Activities Association has announced district baseball brackets and locations.  Two of those locations are at area high schools, Harrisburg and Glasgow.

Glasgow will host the Class 1, District 12 bracket at John Donaldson Field beginning May 12 and running through May 17.

Northeast has drawn the No. 1 seed in the bracket and will enjoy a bye in the first round. The Cairo-based school will not play until May 16 at 5 p.m. when it will play the winner of the No. 4 seed Glasgow and No. 5 seed Wellsville-Middleton game set for May 12 at 4 p.m.

Prior to that game on May 12 at 2 p.m., No. 3 seed Higbee will take on Madison. The winner of that game will play the No. 2 seed, Community on May 16 at 7 p.m. The winners of the games set for May 16 will play for the district championship on May 17 at 5 p.m.

The district champions will then play next on May 23, with the opponent being the winner of District 11. That game will mark the first round of state tournament action.

Harrisburg’s Coach Brian T. Simpson Memorial Field will host the Class 2, District 7 bracket. Game 1 will have an earlier start than normal as the No. 3 seed Harrisburg will play sixth-seeded Slater at noon on May 13. The early start was set to allow players from the Slater team to be able to attend graduation that evening.

Game 2 will be played immediately following game 1, with the No. 4 seed, Northwestern, taking on the fifth-seeded Fayette at 2:30 p.m.

On May 16, top-seeded Salisbury will face the winner of the game between Northwestern and Fayette at 5 p.m., followed by No. 2 seed New Franklin taking on the winner of the Harrisburg and Slater game at 7 p.m.

The winners of the two May 16 games will then face each other for the championship on May 18 at 6 p.m.

The Class 2, District 7 champion will advance to the State tournament to face the District 8 champion on May 23.
