An array of area high school cross-country runners advanced to the state meet at Gans Creek Cross Country Course in Columbia on Saturday.
New Franklin Quincy Dorson is now the highest finisher in school history. He placed 45th out of 173 runners with a time of 18:21.80.
The Glasgow girls placed eighth overall out of 13 Class 1 teams competing in the state-level 5k race with 177 total points.
Leading the way was senior Addison Barringhaus with a sixth-place finish out of 153 runners with a time of 20:39.60. Freshman Maylen Parks came in 34th with a time of 22:36.70. Senior Kaitlyn Monnig cracked the top 100 with a 96th-place finish in 24:37.20.
Junior Magdalene Kramm-Neighbors placed 126th overall with a time of 25:52.60.
Glasgow posted finishes for 138th, 139th, and 140th places by senior Shalynn Norris ( 26:58.10), sophomore Aly Prentzler (27:03.90), and junior Jaclyn Johnson (27:15.20) respectively.
In the boys’ 5k, Glasgow sophomore Joshua Sayler finished in the top half, posting a time of 19:06.80 for 80th place out of 173 runners.
Higbee sent two runners to this year’s state competition. Senior Raegan Derboven placed 59th in the girls’ race with a time of 23:41.20.
Junior Danny Janssen placed 31st overall in the boys 5k with a time of 18:00.10.
Fayette’s only competitor was Landon Cunningham. The senior cracked the Class 2 top 100 in Fayette’s first season with a cross-country team after a long hiatus. He finished 99th among a field of 161 runners in the boys’ 5k with a time of 19:40.60.
Likewise in Class 2 competition, Harrisburg sent one runner to state competition. Sophomore Josey Whitaker placed 28th overall out of 165 girls with a time of 21:11.30.
