Armstrong man killed in head-on crash

Posted

A 30-year-old Armstrong man was killed in a head-on collision Monday night.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Ethan A. Fuemmeler was southbound on Highway 5, two miles south of Highway 3, when the 2003 Chevrolet 2500 pickup truck he was driving crossed the center line of the roadway. A 2004 Ford F350 pickup driven by Philip J. Dicus, 62, of Salisbury, attempted to avoid Fuemmeler’s truck and ran off the right side of the road. Both vehicles eventually crashed head on.

Fuemmeler was pronounced dead at the scene by Howard County Coroner Frank Flaspohler at 9:30 p.m. He was not wearing a seatbelt according to the patrol. It is not known to what extent Dicus was injured.

Both vehicles were totaled and were towed from the scene.

The accident marks Troop F’s fifth fatality for the month of May and 24th for the year.
