A juvenile missing since June in St. Louis was found with his mother and another man in Glasgow on Tuesday.
According to a probable cause statement filed by Glasgow Police Chief Tyler Polson, Amanda Schlieper, the juvenile’s mother, and Brandon Miller picked up the juvenile from Marygrove Child Center in Florissant, Missouri, in June. The three have been on the run ever since.
The juvenile, who is reportedly in his mid-teens, was removed from Schlieper’s custody by the Macon County Circuit Court on May 1, and she was not to have contact with him.
Schlieper and Miller denied having the juvenile when confronted at the home by Chief Polson on Tuesday. The juvenile was later found behind the backyard of the house.
Schlieper faces one count of Interference With Custody, a Class A misdemeanor. She and Miller were taken to the Howard County Jail and were later released on a $3,000 bonds. The charge is punishable with up to one year in jail and/or a fine of up to $2,000.
Polson wrote in his probable cause statement that Schlieper poses a danger to the juvenile because she “lost custody of her children and knowingly went and picked up the juvenile from St. Louis and kept him out of care for five months and lied to law enforcement to keep him in her custody when she wasn’t supposed to have him.”
Miller is also in jail on a $3,000 bond, also charged with Interference With Custody.
Chief Polson also wrote that Miller poses a threat to the child because he “took and hid juvenile from law enforcement and when confronted about juvenile lied to keep him with his mother who the state took custody from.”
Miller is well known to law enforcement, having previously faced charges of drug possession, resisting arrest, and an array of traffic violations and infractions.
Both Schlieper and Miller are due to appear in Howard County court on Tuesday morning for a bond review hearing.
