Betty L. Mason, age 80, of Fayette, Missouri, and formerly of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away on December 30, 2021, at the University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia, Missouri.

Betty was born on April 4, 1941, in Blackwater, Missouri. She married Sammy Mason on May 13, 1959, in Boonville, Missouri. He preceded her in death on April 8, 2013, after 53 years of marriage. Betty and Sammy operated a Dairy Queen in Kansas City for many years and made friendships with many local families during that time. Betty also enjoyed catering for parties, sewing, doing crossword puzzles, and was active in PTA, Homes Association, and her family’s activities.

Survivors include her children, Mike Mason (Juanita), Gay Mason-Clubb (Andy), and Kim Kilgore (Jeff); three brothers, Dale, Donny, and Jeff Francis; grandchildren, Jeremy (Jessikah), Jesse and Kami Kilgore, Kayla Duffy, Drew (Mia), Sam, and Jackson Clubb; and great-grandsons, Raylan Kilgore and Nick Duffy. Other survivors include her niece, Pam Goodman; great-niece, Dana Goodman; and great-great-nephew, Rhys Goodman; nephews Keith, Gary, and Kevin Mason, and their families and several cousins.

In addition to her husband, Betty was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Webster; her brother, Gary Gardner, and her mother, Pearl Francis.

Services honoring Betty’s life will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, January 4, 2022, at Carr-Yager Funeral Home in Fayette. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

Burial will follow at Log Chapel Cemetery near Fayette.

Due to Covid, the family will host a celebration lunch at a later date where we can all be outside, enjoy the sunshine, and share memories of Betty.
