New Franklin put a pair of seniors on the media’s Central Missouri All-District Class 2 first team after finishing the season with a record of 27-2. Gavin Bishop and Tyler Perkins led the Bulldogs to a 20-0 start and a district championship.
Bishop, the CAC conference MVP, averaged 18.6 points and 7.8 rebounds per game. Bishop was also named to the Missouri Basketball Coaches Association All-State first team and was academic All-State as well. Perkins scored 15.3 points per game with 6.4 rebounds, 4.6 assists and 3.3 steals. He also shot 39 percent from the 3-point line.
Junior Kyle Schleeter represented Fayette on the first team. He led the Falcons to a record of 13-10 with two wins over the eventual conference champion Westran. Schleeter averaged 19.1 points per game and 6.2 rebounds. He was incredibly efficient around the basket, converting 66 percent of his 2-point attempts for the season. Falcon senior Cale Polson landed on the second team. He made 50 3-pointers over his final season and average 14 points per game.
Harrisburg sophomore Tanner Lanes was a second-team selection. He averaged 16.1 points per game along with 6.1 rebounds, 2.9 assists, 1.8 blocks and 1.5 steals. He shot 38 percent from the 3-point line and 78 percent from the charity stripe. Harrisburg finished the season 11-14 with an 80-76 win over Calvary Lutheran in the district quarterfinals. Jonah Sanford was named academic All-State for the Bulldogs.
William Gibson earned a well-deserved spot on the Class 1 first team after leading Higbee to a record of 11-14, a seven-win improvement from the previous season. Gibson led the Tigers with 23.8 points per game and 8.5 rebounds per game. Gibson had seven games of 30 points or more during his senior campaign. He had seven double-doubles and was one rebound shy of a double-double six times.
Glasgow had a pair of second team selections with De’Shonne Cowans and Drew Sanders. Cowans averaged 10.4 points per game and 8.8 rebounds per game over his senior season. Sanders made 88 3-pointers during his sophomore season and finished with a scoring average of 15.4. Cowans and Sanders led the Yellowjackets on a six-game winning streak in February, including victories over Salisbury (15-11) and Sturgeon (17-11). Glasgow finished 13-12.
