Caleb Hull’s triple scored the go-ahead run for New Franklin in the third inning of a 6-2 win over Glasgow on Tuesday.

The Bulldogs and Yellowjackets were tied 2-2 after two and a half innings, but New Franklin took the lead for good with three straight hits before making the next out.

Owen Armentrout singled, stole second and scored on Hull’s triple. Tanner Bishop singled to center to put New Franklin ahead by two.

The Bulldogs went up 5-2 after Keaton Eads came through with a 2-out double.

Clayton Wilmsmeyer drove in the final run with a 2-out single to right field in the sixth inning.

Bishop finished 2-3 with two RBI and Eads was 2-3 as well. Armentrout was 2-4 and scored two runs. Colton Collyott drew three walks and scored twice.

Wilmsmeyer gave up just two hits and a walk in five innings of relief. He struck out 11.
“We had some good at bats here and there, but our execution was poor and our defense was not the best,” New Franklin coach Erich Gerding said. “Clayton pitched well for us.”

Drew Sanders gave Glasgow a 1-0 lead in the first, scoring Trevor Sanders with a double to center field.

Tied 1-1, the Yellowjackets loaded the bases in the second inning on hits from Deklan Himmelberg and Alan Westhues and a walk drawn by Colton Boss.

Himmelberg scored on a balk, but Hull struck out the next two batters and got a fly ball to center field to escape the jam.

Josh Korte had a single for Glasgow and Boss had a hit as well. Sanders allowed five earned runs on six hits and three walks, while striking out six.
“Glasgow came out and put some good swings on the ball and Sanders pitched well for them,” Gerding said.

“Time to gear up for a big game at Sturgeon on Thursday. I hope we come more ready to play then.”
