Former California resident, Carl Holst, age 71, passed away at the Lodge in Fayette, Missouri, on September 2, 2022.

Carroll “Carl” Holst was born on August 10, 1951, in Santa Monica, California, a son to the late Robert and Agnes (Brun) Holst. Carl worked primarily as a carpenter and painter most of his life. He was a self-employed, licensed contractor in West Hollywood, California, where he also managed an apartment complex. Carl loved to write and was proud to publish his own science fiction novel, “Amyl Ion 1.” He was writing two more follow up novels until his health rendered him unable. Carl also enjoyed listening to the music of Amy Winehouse.

Survivors include his daughter, Kristine Vroman, of Glasgow; two granddaughters, Jana (Justin) Hayes, and Emma Vroman; brother, Geary Holst, of Glendale, Arizona; and sister, Sheila Williams, of Highland, Illinois. In addition to his parents, Carl was preceded in death a brother, James W. Holst.

A celebration of life gathering will be held from 1 until 2:30 p.m., Wednesday, September 7, 2022, at Friemonth-Freese Funeral Home in Glasgow. Private inurnment will take place at a later date, at the convenience of the family.
