Catherine “Kitty” Schewe passed away peacefully on November 2, 2024 at the age of 92.
Kitty is survived by her children, Stephen Schewe (Beryl) and Lisa Schewe; her nephew, John Hagan (Alec); her three beloved grandchildren Thomas, Sarah, and Wynona Jane (Keric); and two great grandchildren, Jackson and Collins; and her beloved dog Jack. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mike; her parents CA and Frances Jackson, and sister, Nancy.
Kitty was born in Birch Tree, Missouri. She graduated from Sweet Springs High School, attended William Woods College and graduated from the University of Missouri with a degree in Education. Kitty was a schoolteacher, a travel agent and took the most pride in being a homemaker and caring for her family. Together, Mike and Kitty developed a love of travel and traveled the world together.
After retirement, they returned to Missouri and made Star Lake Farm their home. Kitty was active in a variety of service organizations in Fayette and Glasgow, including P.E.O., LTS, and the Glasgow Study Club. She enjoyed managing her farms, playing bridge, gardening, traveling, tennis and golf.
The family would like to express their deep gratitude for the many people who cared for Kitty in her final illness and supported her family, especially the Church of the Resurrection in Leawood, Kansas; the Kansas City Hospice House; the Nation family; friends in Kansas City and in the Glasgow /Fayette area.
