Central Golf women claim team title while men tie for second

The Central Methodist men's and women's golf programs opened the 2022 spring season with a win and a second-place finish at the Crestview Spring Invitational Tuesday afternoon in Wichita, Kansas. 

The women claimed the team title with a single round score of 337, while the men finished tied for second with a final score of 303.

Sophomore Cassandra Contreras won the individual women’s championship with a round-one score of 74. Senior Alea Andrade posted a Top 10 finish with a single score of 87, followed by freshman Sarah Krenowicz who tied for 10th after shooting an 87. Freshman Logan Allen tied for 17th with a score of 92, and freshman Riley Burns tied for 19th with a 93. 

On the men’s side, senior Matias Baccola finished with a single-round score of 73, good enough for a third-place tie. He was followed by junior Tiago Swart with a score of 76, tying for 10th. Freshman Tomas Lopez Mazzalay tied for 18th with senior Nzelu Maitha. Both shot at 77. Sophomore Aaron Teece (T-41, 82) also competed for the Eagles.

The Eagles competed in the Ron Streck Invitational March 14-15 at MeadowBrook Country Club in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
