Central Methodist 81, Culver Stockton 69
The No. 8 CMU women’s basketball team beat Culver-Stockton 81-69 on Saturday.
Heart player of the week Lanay Rodney had 27 points and 10 rebounds for CMU in the win. Crimson Jones scored eight of her 17 points during the Eagles 11-0 start to the contest. Mercedes Jefflo had 11 points, nine assists and eight rebounds. Gloria Mulumba scored five points and had 11 rebounds.
Central Methodist 90, Culver Stockton 82
The Central Methodist men’s basketball team snapped a seven-game slide with a 90-82 win at Culver-Stockton on Saturday. James Byrd returned from suspension to lead the Eagles with 19 points off of the bench on 8-13 shooting.
The Eagles trailed by nine points early in the second half, but took the lead on Byrd’s 3-pointer with 10 minutes left and led the rest of the way. Josh Robinson had 16 points and eight assists and Kyle McDermed also scored eight points. Seth Stegemen was 3-6 from long range and finished with 11.
