The Central Methodist Outdoor Track and Field Teams took part in the highly competitive Margaret Simmons Invite this past weekend in Murray, Kentucky. 

The two day event featured over 30 schools across the NCAA and NAIA levels. 

The women posted a sixth place finish out of 21 teams while the men finished fourth out of 23 teams. 

On the women's side, junior Keiara-Ashley Cunningham won the 400-meter hurdles in a time of 1:03.72, hitting the qualifying 'B' standard for the national championships. She was also part of the 4x400-meter relay team of sophomore Dayana Montenegro, freshman Jessica Bailey, and sophomore Kailey Johnson that broke the school record with a time of 3:57.24. 

Freshman Megan Aubuchon finished third out of 32 athletes in the 100-meter hurdles, recording a time of 14.51 seconds. Aubuchon and freshman Renee Finke both tied for fourth in the women's high jump with marks of 1.55 meters. 

For the CMU men, senior thrower Taylor Bottomley had a monster day, hitting the 'A' standard in three different events including the discus, hammer, and shot put. He posted two first place finishes in the discuss and hammer with throws of 51.10 meters and 60.40 meters respectively, and broke the school record in both the hammer and shot put. 

Senior Alexander Ayala placed first in the 400-meter hurdles out of 13 athletes with a time of 55 seconds and freshman Colder Evans finished second in the javelin with a mark of 49.37 meters.
