Central volleyball falls short in Heart tourney

The Central Methodist volleyball program fell just short of a Heart Tournament title Saturday after a three-set loss at Park University 19-25, 19-25, and 12-25. 

The loss puts the Lady Eagles’ record at 28-7 overall and 16-4 in conference play.  

Senior Jordan Wolfe led the offense with eight kills while sophomore Callie Henson added six. Freshman Yenne Schepers dished out a team-high 14 assists while junior Marina Alonso finished the afternoon with 11. 

Sophomore Krystal Brauner led the Central defense with 16 digs followed by freshman  Annabelle Maassen with eight. Henson tallied four blocks and freshman Hannah Marcee and sophomore Delaney Miller each recorded two. 

The Eagles will host the Southwestern Assembly of God Lady Lions in the NAIA Women’s Volleyball National Championship Opening Round on  Thursday.  The time of the game had not been announced when The Advertiser went to press.

SAGU is located in Waxahachie Texas. SAGU plays in the Sooner Athletic Conference and lands in the NAIA Tourney by virtue of winning their conference tournament. The Lady Lions head into the tournament with a 26-8 record and riding a five-game winning streak. The Lady Lions have won eight of the last 10.

Prior to the loss to Park Central Methodist had won 13 of the last 16 matches.
