Charles “Chuck” Everette Lloyd, one of eight children, was born May 15, 1929 in Shawnee, Oklahoma to Herman and Ethel Pearl (Percell) Lloyd. He was a graduate of New Franklin High School in 1948. On September 30, 1950, Chuck married Mary Willa Wells at the Fayette First Baptist Church. The couple enjoyed 71 years of marriage together. From 1951-1953, he served in the US Marine Corps, earning the rank of sergeant and working as a mechanic on amphibious vehicles.

Growing up on a farm Chuck valued the outdoors and working hard. He held several jobs throughout his career. Trucking and Dozing were the jobs he enjoyed most. He worked for Midwest Cordage for a number of years, making trips to New Orleans and delivering twine up north to the Dakotas. Chuck retired when he was 76 years old.

He is survived by his wife, Willa and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Chuck was preceded in death by three brothers and four sisters.

A funeral service honoring Mr. Lloyd’s life was at 2 p.m. on Monday, March 8, 2021, at the Friemonth-Freese Funeral Home in Fayette with Rev. Harold Young officiating.
