The pistol range at DC Rogers Lake has been closed until further notice. The range was recently built by Central Methodist for the university’s Eagle Elite pistol competition team. The problem is that it was built facing the wrong direction.
Fayette City Marshal David Ford is worried that an accident could take place, and city council members agree. The Board of Aldermen gave unanimous approval to close the range until further notice during its last regular meeting on Tuesday, May 24.
Changes or improvements could be made to the pistol range in the future.
The city may also consider the termination of hunting at DC Rogers Lake. Currently, a limited number of duck hunters are allowed to hunt there during open season. A lottery is held for duck blinds at the lake.
The matter will likely be discussed at future meetings and a public forum may be held.
