The City of Fayette will observe two extra days in December as holidays. City Hall will already be closed and city personnel will not work on December 24, nor on December 31 in observance of Christmas and New Year’s Day, both of which fall on Saturdays this year. The city will also close down on the two prior Thursdays, December 23 and 30.
The two extra days were granted by the city council during its regular meeting on Tuesday, November 23, in a 3-1 vote. Northwest Ward Alderman Jeremy Dawson was the lone dissenting vote.
Fayette’s director of public works, Danny Dougherty, asked the council for the extra days off on behalf of city employees.
