The City of Fayette is seeking donations for the annual Independence Day fireworks display. The cost of this year’s show has increased from $3,500 to $4,200. The display is traditionally funded by donations.
As of Monday afternoon, $790 had been donated toward the show.
J&M Displays, from Slater, will once again present the display. The company offered to keep the same price for a smaller show, but the Fayette Board of Aldermen voted in April to pay the increase for the same-sized show.
Nearby, Glasgow will not hold a fireworks display this year, which is presented annually by the Lions Club. The rise in prices was cited as the reason.
To donate toward the show, stop by City Hall on South Main Street.
