CMU men’s soccer improves to 2-0

The No. 3 Central Methodist men’s soccer program earned its second win of the fall season with a 2-0 shutout over Bethel (Ind.), Saturday afternoon in Mishawaka, Indiana. 

With the win, Central improves to 2-0 overall while the Pilots drop to 2-3. 

Senior midfielder Riccardo Sandulli notched his first goal of the season in just the sixth minute of play, giving Central an early 1-0 lead. Junior Alessandro Salvadego added the second goal of the match in the 57th minute, securing a 2-0 advantage for the Eagles. 

The CMU defense kept the Pilots off the scoresheet, going on to earn the 2-0 win. As a team, Central finished the match with 15 shots including 11 on goal compared to 10 shots and six on goal for Bethel. 

Salvadego led the Eagles’ offense with three shots, all coming on frame. Senior Marcos German and  junior Christian Sanchez each collected two shots. Sophomore goalkeeper Stefano Camerlengo finished the match with six saves in a full 90 minutes of action between the posts. 

The Eagles continue road play with a trip to Kirksville where they will play NCAA Division II Truman State University today at 4 p.m.
