CMU Music Festival returns to campus next week

One of the biggest days of the year for the Central Methodist University music department is just around the corner. March 4 marks the much-welcomed return to campus of the CMU Music Festival.

Music Fest, as it’s known to the many past participants and involved persons, brings high school and middle school band and choir performers from all across the state to perform for the CMU judges. The competition will once again be held on campus this year, after the event went virtual in 2021.

Thousands of students from dozens of schools will compete in a variety of categories for both bands and choirs. The following schools participating will be led by alumni of Central Methodist:

Brookfield High School – John Wiggans, Brookfield Middle School – Crystal Kimmi, Elsberry – Rebecca Cooper, Fatima High School – Zach Fincher, Fatima Junior High – Ryan Lewis, Fayette High School – Vanessa Miner, Fulton High School – Laurey Railton, Fulton Middle School – Kelly Neudecker, Glasgow – Lacey Gladden, Hallsville – James West and Susan Lewis, Jamestown – Gretta Lieser, John Warner Middle School – Josh Myers, Louisiana High School – Josh Stettes, LSE 7th Grade – Alec Fields, Mark Twain High School – Douglas Schaffer, Mexico Middle School – Sarah Murdock, New Franklin – Lisa Dobbs, Norborne – Daniel Long, Oak Grove Middle School – Kay Neas, OLLIS – Sarah Nolke, Otterville – Caitlyn Bird, Pilot Grove – Ed Lammers, Principia – Jonathan Daniels, Salisbury – Crystal Slivinski and Mike Williams, Slater – Stephen Meyer, St. Joseph Salisbury – Nylah Beach, St. Pius X School – Kelley Head, and Waynesville Middle and High School – Cyndee Gilmore.

Other schools slated to compete include:

Bevier, Boonville, Brunswick, Chester Boren Middle School, Christian Fellowship, Columbia Independent School, Crest Ridge, Eldon Middle School, Holy Rosary, JMS Steam Academy, Knob Noster, Macon Middle School, Marceline, North Callaway Middle School, North Shelby, NW County Hughesville, Oakland Middle School, Odessa Middle School, Paris, Prairie Home, Rennick, Smithton Middle School, South Callaway, South Shelby, Southern Boone County, Tipton, West Middle School, and Westran High School.

The results from Friday’s event will be posted online in the coming weeks.
