CMU renews agreements Three Rivers College

Posted

During the recent Missouri Community College Association convention, Central Methodist University officials took the opportunity to renew a strong and longstanding partnership with Three Rivers College, signing several articulation agreements.

The partnership between Central’s College of Graduate and Extended Studies (CGES) and TRC has been a prolific one, serving as many as 70 students dually-enrolled at both schools over certain semesters. Central serves TRC students at a number of locations, including Poplar Bluff, Kennett, Dexter, Sikeston, and online.

The CMU rodeo team has also been a staple of the partnership since 2019, with the team competing as a member of the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association. Students compete in events across the region, taking part in rodeo competitions in Missouri, Alabama, Arkansas, Illinois, and Tennessee throughout the season.

At the MCCA conference, Central and TRC signed multiple recently developed articulation transfer agreements that provide students with a seamless transfer from the associate degree to one of CMU’s degree completion programs. The schools came to agreements for transferring from the associate of applied science in behavioral health support to the bachelor of behavioral health, as well as the associate of arts in cybersecurity to the bachelor of science in cybersecurity. The schools also signed an agreement regarding the bachelor of science in exercise science and master of science in athletic training degrees.

“Central Methodist University appreciates the hard work and academic excellence at Three Rivers College, and all our community college partners,” said Dr. Deborah DeGan-Dixon, associate dean, at the event. “We appreciate the opportunity to collaborate with you on these transfer programs for your students and your communities.”

Along with DeGan-Dixon, Central was represented at the event by Dr. Rita Gulstad, provost; Maile Pihana Rhorer, director of CGES admissions; and Karen Lovette, coordinator at CMU-Poplar Bluff. Three Rivers College was represented by Dr. Wes Payne, president; Dr. Maribeth Payne, chief institutional effectiveness officer; and Dr. Sherry Phelan, dean of instruction.
