The Central Methodist Indoor Track and Field programs split at both the Frank Sevigne Husker Invitational and the Bearcat Open this past weekend.
A few Central athletes traveled to Lincoln, Nebraska to compete on Friday. Senior Mohammed Nyaoga broke the school record in the 400-meter dash with a time of 49.35 seconds, ultimately placing eighth in the event. Classmate Taylor Bottomley placed seventh in a highly-competitive field in the weight throw with a final toss of 20.10 meters.
Sophomore Kailey Johnson competed in the 60 meter hurdles and ran a personal best of 8.97 seconds in the preliminaries.
Over at the Bearcat Open in Maryville, freshman Sadie Heisner recorded a new personal best in the pole vault with a mark of 3.27 meters, good enough to finish third. She also posted a ninth-place finish in the triple jump with a mark of 10.92 meters. Junior Kaitlyn Weber placed seventh in the same event with a mark of 11.01 meters.
Freshman Megan Aubuchon ran a new personal record in the semifinals of the 60 meter hurdles in a time of 9.12 seconds, good enough to hit the National Qualifying 'B' standard for the national meet. Junior Madeline Wieseman hit a new personal best of 2:26.84 in the 800-meter run.
Central will turn its attention to the postseason. The Eagles will next compete in the Heart Indoor Championships beginning Friday, February 18 in Maryville.
