Commencement at Central Methodist University is in sight for the class of 2022, as the Fayette graduation ceremony is scheduled for Saturday, May 14. Former Missouri judge, legislator, and Central graduate Ted House ’81 will be the featured speaker at this year’s event.

House received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Central Methodist in 1981 and later earned his law degree from the University of Missouri at Kansas City. He is the son of legendary Dean of the Swinney Conservatory Keith House and the incomparable Ilene House. He is a proud graduate of Fayette High School.

House’s service in public office included 14 years in the Missouri Legislature, where he served as the chairperson of the Senate Education Committee, and 18 years as a judge, during which he was the Presiding Judge of Missouri’s 11th Judicial Circuit.

House lives in St. Charles with his wife, Mardi, a technical lead engineer with the Boeing Company. They have three adult children.

Currently a member of the CMU Board of Trustees, House is passionate about Central, having also served on the Alumni Association Board and the President’s Council.

Longtime Methodist minister Reverend Jerry Moon will receive a Bachelor of Arts degree during the ceremony to honor his commitment to the mission of CMU in fostering a diverse and caring community. Moon has been affiliated with Central since 1953, when he moved to Fayette to pursue a degree. He served as a minister of rural churches in Moberly, Grain Valley, Smithton, Jasper/Mt. Moriah, and others before retiring. Since retirement, he has served as a NOMAD (Nomads on a Mission Active in Divine Service), with two visits to Central to help with summer renovations.

Commencement will begin at 2 p.m. in Puckett Fieldhouse. Live streams of the event will be available for those unable to attend.
