The No. 11 Central Methodist volleyball team continued to roll in conference play after completing another sweep over William Penn University by scores of 25-22, 25-15, and 25-10 Friday at home.
Central improves its overall record to 19-3 and 10-1 in the Heart, while the Statesmen fall to 11-9 and 4-6 in conference action.
CMU’s offense was paced by Grace Unnvik, who tallied 12 kills on 14 swings for an .857 hitting percentage, a new season best for the senior. She also collected five blocks.
Sophomore Callie Henson followed with eight kills, while senior Jordan Wolfe collected seven. Freshman Sydney Healy had six kills to go along with classmate Annabelle Maassen’s five. Junior Marina Alonso dished out 20 assists while fellow setter, freshman Yenne Schepers recorded 15. On the defensive side, sophomore Krystal Brauner was the only Eagle to record double-digit digs with 13.
Central’s offense finished the evening with a .380 hitting percentage compared to just .053 for the Statesmen.
CMU made the trip west to face rival Missouri Valley College on Tuesday, after The Advertiser went to press. The Eagles were looking for the season sweep over the Vikings, having previously defeating Missouri Valley in straight sets on Sept. 21 in Fayette. The Lady Eagles return home to host Baker University at 7 p.m. Friday.
