The No. 13 Central Methodist women’s volleyball program swept two Heart North Division opponents over the weekend, improving its overall record to 26-5 and 16-2 in conference play.

The Eagles began the weekend with a three-set sweep of Graceland University Friday night in Lamoni, Iowa. CMU then traveled to Peru, Nebraska on Saturday, where they swept the Bobcats.

Against the Yellowjackets, sophomore Callie Henson and freshman Annabelle Maassen led the offense with 11 and 10 kills, respectively. The duo of junior Marina Alonso and freshman Yenne Schepers both dished out 13 assists.

As a team, CMU finished the evening with eight total service aces, as Maassen, junior Shea Luby, and  sophomore Krystal Brauner each picked up two.

Brauner led the defense with 16 digs, while junior Giulia Sasso and Henson recorded two blocks.

The sweep over Peru proved to be a historic afternoon for Brauner against Peru State Saturday, as the junior became the all-time career digs record holder at CMU with her 18th dig against the Bobcats. She broke the previous record of 1,511, set by former Eagle Darcy Latham (2014-17).

Through nearly three full seasons, Brauner has tallied 1,518 total digs in 91 matches and 396 sets.

The trio of senior Jordan Wolfe, freshman Hannah Marcee, and Henson all finished the afternoon with nine kills. Maassen tallied eight kills followed by freshman Sydney Healy with six. Marcee was the most efficient hitter for the Eagles, as she recorded a .571 hitting percentage.

CMU was set to conclude the regular season with a matchup against the Evangel Valor Tuesday in Springfield, Missouri.
