CMU wins ninth straight game

The No. 8 Central Methodist women’s basketball team jumped out to a 27-9 lead and defeated Benedictine (12-4) 81-64, moving to 15-1 for the season.

The Ravens scored 26 points in the second quarter to cut eight points off of the CMU lead, but the Eagles held Benedictine to just 13 points in the third, pulling away for the win.

Lanay Rodney led the Eagles with 23 points and six steals. Gloria Mulumba had 11 points and 11 rebounds. Mercedes Jefflo had 17 points, seven assists and four steals.

Crimson Jones had 11 points, eight rebounds and three assists.

CMU shot just 4-19 from the 3-point line, but still outshot the Ravens, who finished 3-27 from deep.
