Behind two goals from senior Andrea Villar and sophomore Celine Witt, the No. 5 Central Methodist women's soccer team defeated Graceland University 5-0 Saturday night in Lamoni, Iowa.
With the victory, Central improves to 12-1 and 9-0 in the Heart to remain atop the conference standings.
In her second career start, Witt snagged her second goal in as many matches in the 17th minute of play on an assist from sophomore Sandra Jakobsen. Less than 10 minutes later, freshman Marcella Helena put Central out in front 2-0 with a goal in the 26th minute.
Villar cored her 18th and 19th goals in the opening 14 minutes of the second half. Leading 4-0, Witt sealed the victory in the 63rd minute on a deflection, giving CMU a 5-0 shut out win.
Senior Roneisha Frank led the offense with five total shots, including two on goal and an assist. Villar added four total shots with three coming on goal. Jakobsen matched Villar with four shots taken along with an assist, her 14th of 2021.
Theshutout marks the Eagles' sixth straight shut out dating back to Sept. 25.
The Eagles next host rival Missouri Valley College this afternoon at 5:p.m. at Davis Field.
