For the third straight season and fourth time in the last fives years, the No. 5 Central Methodist women's soccer team claimed the Heart Women's Soccer regular season crown with a 3-0 victory over Clarke University Saturday afternoon at Davis Field.

With the Eagles' victory, and the resulting tie from Missouri Valley College with Grand View, Central clinched the Heart title with a 14-1 overall record and an 11-0 mark in conference play.

Prior to kickoff, the Eagles honored their 2021 senior class which included Alexis Garlock, Lidia Vicente de Vera, Andrea Villar, Kylie Campbell, Chyler Hahner, Ashleigh Secrest, and Zoe Jessen.

Hahner got the senior day start and recorded the first goal of the afternoon for the Eagles in the 15th minute of play off the assist from freshman Marcella Helena.

Helena pushed Central's lead to 2-0 in the 36th minute and solidified the victory with her second goal of the match in the 80th minute unassisted.

The Eagles' offense finished the afternoon with 23 shots including 11 on goal, while the defense held the Pride without a shot on goal including just one shot in the second half.

Helena led the offense with seven total shots including three on goal, and her eighth and ninth goals of 2021. She also picked up an assist to tally five total points on the afternoon.

The Central defense has now recorded eight consecutive shut outs, having last given up a goal against the Evangel Valor on Sept. 22 in Springfield, Mo. Overall the Eagles have outscored their opponents 62-2 through 15 games so far this season.

The Eagles will face No. 9 Oklahoma Wesleyan today at 1:30 p.m. in Overland Park, Kan.
