After setting a new school record at the Friends Invitational, Central Methodist senior thrower Taylor Bottomley was tabbed as the Heart Men's Indoor Field Athlete of the Week by the conference office. Bottomley is a native of Harrisburg.

Bottomley broke his own record in the weight throw with a mark of 20.2-meters, more than four meters better than second place.

He also placed first in the men's shot put with a throw of 16.15-meters, putting him above all 23 competitors.

Bottomley continued to add to his impressive resume on Wednesday, as he was named the NAIA National Men's Indoor Field Athlete of the Week.

In addition, Bottomley also finished first in the men's shot put with a throw of 16.15 meters, putting him above all 23 competitors.

Two members of the women’s track and field teams gathered hardware last week as well.  After an impressive showing at the 2022 Friends Invitational Saturday, the Central Methodist track duo of sophomore Kailey Johnson and junior Kaitlyn Weber were tabbed as the Heart Athletes of the Week by the conference office Monday afternoon. This marks the first honor for the pair this season.

Johnson who hails from Columbia, was named the Heart Track Athlete of the Week, while Weber earned Heart Field Athlete of the Week honors.

Johnson earned two first-place finishes at the Invitational, beginning with the 60-meter dash in a time 7.88 seconds. In addition, she helped lead the 4x400m relay team to a first-place victory with a time of 4:13.19.

Weber, a junior from Wentzville, Mo., won the women's long jump with a mark of 5.14 meters to place first out of

11 competitors. She also took home fourth in the triple jump with a mark of 10.61 meters.
