The Central Methodist Eagle Envy Dance Team took home the national title in the NAIA Hip Hop Division of the 2022 National Dance Alliance College Dance National Championship Saturday afternoon in Daytona Beach, Florida.
Envy began the preliminaries of the Hip Hop competition with a score of 85.5429, putting them in second place heading into the finals. CMU then tallied a finals score of 89.0 to win the championship.
Central also competed in the NAIA Jazz Division Thursday morning, posting a sixth-place finish with a score of 83.3143.
The Central Methodist University Co-ed cheer team posted a second-place finish in the Advanced Small Coed NAIA Division of this year’s National Cheer Association’s National Championships Friday afternoon in Daytona Beach.
Central posted a preliminary score of 84.46 on Thursday morning, before posting a score of 88.68 in the finals. CMU’s final score was 87.62, good enough to finish second. Southwestern Christian University took home the championship with a final score of 90.06.
