The Central Methodist women's basketball duo of senior Arleighshya McElroy and junior Daryna Bachkarova were recognized as National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics All-Americans by the national office of the NAIA Thursday morning.
The pair became just the 15th and 16th All-Americans in program history. McElroy was selected to the First Team while Bachkarova earned an Honorable Mention.
McElroy, a native of Dallas, Texas earned First Team honors after leading the Eagles in scoring with 19.5 points per game. She also averaged 5.9 rebounds and 4.1 assists per game.
For her efforts in the regular season, McElroy was named Heart Player of the Year and Newcomer of the Year. She was also awarded Heart First Team All-Conference honors and named the Heart Player of the Week on two different occasions.
Altogether, McElroy tallied 14 20-point (or more) scoring performances including a career-high 43 points against Missouri Valley College on December 11. She also recorded a triple-double against No. 11 Indiana Wesleyan on November 5.
McElroy finished her career in the NAIA National Tournament, landing on the All-Tournament team after averaging more than 20 points and five rebounds per game during the 2022 tournament.
Bachkarova earned Honorable Mention All-America honors for the first time in her career. The Minsk, Belarus native appeared in 32 games for Central, averaging 13.8 points and 4.5 rebounds per game.
She knocked down 31.7% of the three-point shots she took and reached double figures in 25 games. Bachkarova was named the Heart Player of the Week on November 22 after averaging 19.3 points and 6.7 rebounds in a three-game stretch.
For her performance this season, she earned Heart First Team All-Conference honors for the second-straight season.
The Eagles finished the year with a 31-6 overall mark and their first appearance in the NAIA National semifinals since 1999.
