Under the watchful eye of newly appointed head basketball coach Matt Sherman, CMU hosted its 37th annual high school team camp last week.
With 46 teams representing approximately 29 high schools participating, the talent is abundant.
The camp was open Wednesday through Friday, with both varsity and junior varsity teams in attendance from Class 1 through Class 6.
“You can do a little bit of recruiting here,” said Sherman. “But really, it is just providing an opportunity to show off our campus. A lot of these teams stay in our dorms and eat in our cafeteria. They are our guests and are playing at the high school, here at Puckett, and at the Rec Center. They’re all over.”
“There have been years that guys have shown up that caught our eye and we’ve offered scholarships on the spot,” said Sherman. “So we keep our eyes open.”
