Howard County’s Eastern District Commissioner, Richard “Dragon” Conrow, announced Monday that he will not seek re-election. The filing period for county offices opened Tuesday and will expire at 5 p.m. March 31.
Conrow has held the office for 16 years. He said he’s looking for a change and is ready to move on. “I’m just ready to be done,” he said.
He is the second commissioner declining to run for re-election. Western District Commissioner Howard McMillan will also conclude his tenure this year. Already three candidates have announced their intentions to seek that office.
First-term presiding commissioner Jerimiah Johnmeyer defeated incumbent Sam Stroupe in November.
