Ladies of Howard County, the time to sign up for the annual Howard County Fair Queen and Teen pageants is upon us.
Applications will be accepted until June 15.
The Howard County Fair opens on Monday, June 17. The Queen and Teen pageants will be held on Wednesday, June 19. Girls aged 12 to 16 are eligible to sign up for the Teen contest. The Queen contest is open for ladies aged 17 to 22. (See ad on Page 2).
Contestants in the one-day pageant will enjoy lunch with the Fayette Rotary Club and compete in three categories: public speaking, interview, and talent.
Last year’s royalty were Queen Kaylea Felten and Teen Melissa Innes.
The winners of the contests will represent the fair throughout the week. The Queen will receive a scholarship in the amount of $1,000. The teen receives a $200 scholarship.
The Queen also is awarded the chance to represent Howard County at the Missouri State Fair in August.
Sam Meyer is in charge of the contest this year. She won the Queen contest in 2018 and went on to be crowned Queen of the Missouri State Fair that year.
To acquire an application, contact Meyer at nelsonsam21@hotmail.com or (660) 833-7288.
