A Fayette couple is in the Howard County Jail facing charges for drug trafficking and child endangerment. Darell Greenfield, 24, and Kassandra Finn, 29, were arrested by members of the East Central Drug Task Force in the early morning hours of Dec. 21 at their apartment on South Cleveland in Fayette.

According to a probable cause statement by task force member Robert Yeadon, officers from the ECDTF, the Howard County Sheriff’s Department, and the Fayette Police Department executed a narcotics search warrant at the apartment around 1:30 a.m. Seized were more than 90 grams of methamphetamine, psilocybin mushrooms, and prescription opioids. Digital scales, a glass pipe, and small empty baggies were also found.

During an interview later at the jail, Greenfield admitted that he was in possession of around a quarter-pound of methamphetamine and psilocybin mushrooms, and had smoked methamphetamine within the last 24 hours. Finn also admitted to smoking methamphetamine at the residence within the three hours before police arrived. Yeadon also wrote in the statement that marijuana had been recently smoked in the residence. This all within the presence of Greenfield’s two-month-old son.

Greenfield remains in jail on a $50,000 bond. Finn’s bond was set at $25,000. Each is charged with one count of first-degree drug trafficking, a Class A felony, and first-degree child endangerment, a Class D felony. Both are due to appear before Judge Mason Gebhardt in Howard County court on January 12 for bond reduction hearings.

 Neither Greenfield nor Finn has retained an attorney, however, online court documents suggest they will each seek the council of the public defender.

Yeadon wrote that there have been numerous complaints about the couple’s involvement in the distribution of narcotics in Howard County from local law enforcement as well as citizens who wish to remain anonymous.

“We really appreciate the hard work by the East Central Drug Task Force, and our local law enforcement,” said Fayette Chief of Police Jeff Oswald. “These officers were very professional in their execution of the warrant and arrests of those involved.” Oswald was recently elected Howard County Sheriff and will be sworn in on Dec. 31.

Both Finn nor Greenfield are known to law enforcement. Finn has been convicted of drug possession and currently faces other charges for marijuana possession. Greenfield pleaded guilty to drug possession in 2016 and receiving stolen property in 2015. In 2014 he was found guilty and convicted of assault in New Franklin.
