By earning a time of 1:02.31 in the 400-meter hurdles at the University of Central Missouri Mule Relays, Central Methodist sprinter Keiara-Ashley Cunningham qualified for the 2022 NAIA Womens’ Outdoor Track & Field National Championships. With that time, the junior broke the CMU record by more than a second and gained the fourth best time in the NAIA in 2022.
Last Monday the Heart Conference office announced that by virtue of her performance, Cunningham was named the Heart Women’s Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week. This was Cunningham’s second such award this season, as she was recognized on March 28 for her performance at the Margaret Simmons Invite in Murray, Kentucky.
Cunningham finished third out of 23 runners at the Mule Relays.
The Ontario, Canada native and her Eagle teammates competed on Friday in Atlanta and at the Wildcat Open hosted by Culver-Stockton in Canton, Missouri.
