Fayette resident, Cynthia Garrett, 62, passed away peacefully at her home August 17, 2020 while surrounded by songs of worship, prayer and scripture from her loving family.

Cynthia M. Garrett was born in Warrensburg, MO to Jerry and Helen Joan (Hammond) Moon on May 29, 1958.  She graduated from Smithton High School in 1976 and continued her education by earning a bachelor’s degree in physical education from Central Methodist University in 1980.  On November 27, 1980, Cynthia married the love of her life, Allen L. Garrett, at Moniteau Chapel in rural Fayette.  Together, they enjoyed nearly 40 years of marriage.  Cynthia worked as a program analyst for Shelter Insurance for 35 years. 

Cynthia was a fighter and battled cancer for over 12 years. Through it all, her attitude and her Faith in Christ stood strong.  She was a devout and active member of Faith Family Church in Fayette.  Cynthia loved music, reading and spending time with her family.  She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter and sister that will be missed deeply by those that knew and loved her.

Survivors include her husband, Allen Garrett, of the home; two daughters, Julie (Wes) Friebe of Fayette, MO and Jessie (Trent) Roseman of Riverview, FL; five grandchildren, Aleigh, Avery and Gauge Friebe, and Judah and Cadence Roseman; father, Rev. Jerry Moon of Fayette, Mo.; and a sister, Susie (Michael) Kraeski of Littleton, CO; and many beloved cousins.  Cynthia was preceded in death by her mother, Helen Joan Moon.

Visitation will be 6-8 PM, Friday, August 21, 2020 at Faith Family Church in Fayette.  A funeral service honoring the life of Mrs. Garrett will be 11 AM, Saturday, August 22, 2020 at Faith Family Church, with Pastor Jamie Page officiating.  Interment will follow the service at Walnut Ridge Cemetery in Fayette.  Please note, masks or facial coverings will be required and social distancing guidelines will be followed.
