The Fayette Area Common Fund, a nonprofit fund dedicated to providing financial resources to local organizations that benefit the community, is accepting applications until September 10 for this year’s grants.

The application and any necessary documents can be dropped off at Commercial Trust Company, care of Julie McAnelly, or can be mailed to Howard Electric Company care of Paula Thies at P.O. Box 391, Fayette, MO.

The Common Fund is a 44-year-old organization that has supported local groups including the Fayette Senior Citizens Center, Parents as Teachers, the Fayette Ministerial Alliance Buddy Pack and Benevolence Fund, and others. Its members include Allen Garrett, Dennis Potter, Sarah Page, Pat Hilgedick, McAnelly, and Thies.

Each year, the fund accepts applications for grants, as well as donations from individuals and businesses in the community who would like to support multiple projects in Fayette by making donations to one group.

Information about applying for funds through the Common Fund is available on the organization’s Facebook group, Fayette Area Common Fund - A Howard County Community Foundation Member Fund.

Organizations that received funds from the 2020 campaign are reminded to provide an accounting of how the monies were utilized, including receipts, and are encouraged to include photos. These can be sent to Julie McAnelly at julie.mcanelly@commercialtrust.com.

Anyone interested in making a donation to the fund, or anyone with questions, can contact Fund Secretary Paula Thies at 660-248-5306.
