Delores Smothers Harvey, 95, formerly of New Franklin and Boonville, passed away January 20, 2021, at Katy Manor in Pilot Grove.
Delores was born in New Franklin on December 16, 1925, a daughter of George and May Bennett Smothers. She married Gordon Harvey on September 6, 1951, in New Franklin. He survives at Katy Manor.
She was a former member of the New Franklin Christian Church. Prior to retirement, she was employed as a switchboard operator with the KATY Railroad. Delores enjoyed going fishing with Gordon, crafting ceramics, and their dogs.
In addition to her husband, survivors include her nephew, Marvin Smothers of Boonville, and his family.
Delores was preceded in death by her parents and by three brothers, Marvin “Woody” Smothers, Chester “Chick” Smothers, and Louis Smothers.
Family services honoring Delores’ life and burial at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery will be held Saturday, January 30, 2021with family gathering at Markland-Yager Funeral home at 1:30 p.m. followed by a service at 2 p.m.
Memorial contributions are suggested to Mt. Pleasant Cemetery Association in care of Markland-Yager Funeral Home, P.O. Box 126, New Franklin, MO 65274.
