Muriel Denise Hubbard of Fayette, Missouri, passed away on Wednesday, December 21, 2022, at home surrounded by her children and loved ones.  

Denise was born on February 7, 1954, in Fayette, Missouri, to William Fay and Willie Maple Shields. Denise was a lifelong resident of Howard County. She was a graduate of Glasgow High School Class of 1972. Denise was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt. Denise enjoyed going to all events for her grandchildren and especially loved talking to people about her grandchildren and sometimes her children. Denise’s greatest enjoyment was spending time with her family watching the Kansas City Chiefs, and mushroom hunting. Denise was a supervisor at National Garment in Fayette, Missouri, for many years. When it closed, she returned to business school. Denise then became employed by The State of Missouri, where she worked in the children’s division for 21 years, retiring in 2019.  

She is survived by her three children Jeri (Tyrone) Turner of St. Louis, Missouri, Julie (Marcus) Davis of Glasgow, Missouri, and Willie (Jackie Stanley) Hubbard, of Boonesboro, Missouri; seven grandchildren, Kelsie (Cameron) Martin, Bryant Hubbard, Brenna Hubbard, Audrey Kuhne, Kaleigh and Rileigh Hubbard (Smith), and Daxton Hubbard; one great-grandson, W. Creed Martin. She is survived by one brother, Delano Shields; and three sisters, Sheryl Schaefer, Dana Hamilton, and Diane Day; and her best friend of 28 years, Patricia Cain, who was like a sister. She is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Maple Shields, one brother, Daryl Shields, and twin grandsons.  

Funeral services are scheduled as followed and entrusted to Friemonth-Freese Funeral Home. Visitation is Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2022, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Friemonth Freese Funeral Home in Fayette. A funeral will be held Thursday, Dec. 29, 2022, at 11 a.m. at Boonesboro Christian Church with Dr. Rev. Clanton Dawson Jr. of Dawson Journey Ministries, Columbia, Missouri, officiating. Interment will follow at Boonesboro Cemetery.
