Higbee basketball fans will have an easy time following Devin Clark’s college basketball career next year. The Tiger senior plans to continue her academic and athletic career at Central Christian College of the Bible, just a 10-mile trip down Highway A from Higbee. CCCB announced the signing on May 13, but the ceremony in Higbee has been postponed to June 1 due to pontential COVID-19 contact.

Clark will join former Higbee teammate Alexis Whisenand on the CCCB roster next year. Clark put up huge numbers for the Tigers during a first-team CCAA all-conference senior season. Clark averaged nearly 17 points, 11 rebounds, and four steals per game over the season. She had a career-high 36 points in a 58-27 win over Bucklin-Macon County on December 2. She had 16 rebounds three times, including back-to-back games in February.

In addition to her production on the court, Clark’s leadership was key for the Higbee girls.

“Devin is the only player I have named a captain during the course of the season,” Higbee head coach Tanner Burton said. 

“Her junior year we were struggling tremendously going into Christmas break with a 3-5 record and Devin stepped up as a vocal leader and helped that team get back on track to finish the season on fire going 12-3 the second half of the season.”

CCCB had a tough first half of the season. An eight-game losing streak dropped the Saints to 4-13 in late January. CCCB would take advantage of a stretch of six straight home games, winning five out of six to turn things around. They eventually took third in the Midwest Christian College Conference tournament and finished 12-18 overall.

“Devin will be a tremendous asset to CCCB as she is a freak athlete that has a ton of potential," Burton said. “With Coach Henson helping round out Devin’s game she will be a name in the local news for the next four years.”
