The Howard County Human Services Council is seeking new or used coats for the coat closet project located at the Keller Building. Rachel Dougherty started the project in 2005 when she saw a need in our community.
Last fall and winter, the closet gave away 254 coats and 40 blankets. So far this fall, the coat closet has been open twice in conjunction with the food pantry and gave 150 jackets and coats, and 14 blankets.
The coat closet accepts gently used coats for children and adults as well as blankets.
The council thanks all of the individuals who have donated either individually, through churches, or through other local organizations.
If you have coats to donate, contact Beverly Markland at (573) 239-0709.
The coat closet will be open on Thursday, December 5, from 1:30 to 3 p.m.
