Howard County veterinarian Dr. Jessica Stroupe was recently elected as Missouri’s District Delegate to the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), a prestigious role in the veterinary community.
The AVMA House of Delegates is composed of representatives from 70 state, territorial, and allied medical groups and plays a crucial role in shaping the policies of the association. Each territory is represented by a Delegate and an Alternate Delegate, who engage in committees covering a wide range of topics, including administration, education, public matters, finance, legislation, and scientific activities. Dr. Stroupe contributes to two key reference committees: Public Matters and Finance & Economics.
“I recognize that there are diverse experiences and challenges within our profession," said Dr. Stroupe. “I remain committed to being open-minded and considerate of these varied perspectives while staying true to my core values. Being elected to represent veterinarians from the state of Missouri on a national level is an honor and a privilege.”
In addition to this achievement, Dr. Stroupe has garnered several notable accolades. She received the Missouri Veterinary Medical Association's Ortu Stella (Rising Star) leadership award in 2021 and the Women Who Own It Entrepreneur of the Year award in 2019. Her leadership also extends to the Missouri Veterinary Medical Executive Board, where she has served as the West Central Delegate since 2020.
