Eagles survive in double-overtime

Isaiah Burton’s 3-pointer with 54 seconds left in the second overtime gave the CMU men’s basketball team a five-point cushion and the Eagles came away with an 88-83 win over Benedictine.

Josh Robinson started the second overtime with a 3-point play. He played 49 of the 50 minutes and finished with 21 points and seven assists. Rijnard Hartman scored a career-high 25 points on 12-16 shooting. He also had nine rebounds and four blocked shots. James Byrd scored 16 points before fouling out. Burton scored all five of his points in the final minute of the game. He also had eight rebounds and seven assists.

Central Methodist led 52-42 with 14 minutes left when the Ravens went on a 9-0 run to cut the lead to one.

The Eagles have won two of their last three conference games after losing five in a row. CMU is now 4-6 in the Heart and 5-11 overall.
