Endless Options in Fayette, and it’s retail arm, The Attic, reopened Monday following a closure due to COVID-19. The organization is once again providing employment support and day services.

The private non-profit provides services to individuals with developmental disabilities in Howard County. It was forced to shut down on Nov. 19 due to a surge in coronavirus cases.

“EO has been sidestepping the virus and trying to keep our doors open while keeping everyone safe,” said Endless Options CEO Deb Miller. “This is particularly difficult since our work is service to people, but we have been diligent and resilient.”

EO is spreading out to provide its services. In addition to its main building, the organization rents out space in the basement of the Comercial Trust Co. building across the street, and its former recycling facility across town. Each participant, regardless of their individual schedule, now is assigned to one of these three locations.

“It is our hope that as the pandemic continues through the winter months, we will be able to more easily isolate  a group of people should someone test positive in their group,” Miller said.

“We have been trying our best to follow all guidelines, masking, washing our hands often and socially distanced. That socially distanced piece was particularly hard for us, and it is our hope this new arrangement will help us do a better job. Each time someone new tests positive we revisit our plan with the isolation and quarantine recommendations.”

Miller reminds the public that EO still does not accept recycling. For 10 years the organization ran a recycling business in Fayette until it was forced to close in February of this year when the bottom fell out of the industry.
