Fayette resident, Erik Monckton, 20, passed away at his home on August 6, 2021.

Erik Sidney Monckton was born June 11, 2001, in Columbia, Missouri, a son to Wade and Angel (Ridenour) Monckton. He graduated from Fayette High School in 2019 and was currently a sophomore at Central Methodist University. Erik worked for CMMG in the parts production department. Erik was an avid hunter and had a true passion for computer science and gaming. He loved playing video games and was a member of the CMU E-sports Team. Erik truly enjoyed his time spent at Camp Hickory Hill; an organization dedicated to those suffering from Type-1 diabetes. At a young age, Erik was diagnosed as Type-1 diabetic and attended camp there for many years. He eventually became a volunteer camp counselor, where he loved being a mentor and helping the campers. Erik was a member of Fayette’s First Christian Church.

Survivors include his parents, Wade and Angel Monckton; sister, Lesley Monckton; his grandmothers, Eva Ridenour and Cathey Monckton, all of Fayette, Missouri; and his step-grandmother, Shirley Monckton of North Kansas City, Missouri. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Erik was preceded in death by both grandfathers, Robert Ridenour and George Monckton.

A celebration of life memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, August 13, 2021, at the First Christian Church in Fayette, with Rev. Kerry Kesey officiating. A visitation will be held the evening before from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, August 12 at Friemonth-Freese Funeral Home in Fayette. Inurnment will be held privately, at the family’s convenience.
