Exchange Bank of Missouri in Fayette has been recognized as the highest performing bank in Missouri, and the 11th best in the nation, by St. Louis analytics firm Banker’s Caddy. The ratings were announced on June 2.
The bank earned a first-quarter score of 99.8% by the firm. Banker’s Caddy grades banks using its own algorithm that considers 18 performance ratios to measure banks’ earnings, asset quality, capital, growth, and liquidity. Exchange Bank currently holds nearly $285 million in assets. It has locations in Fayette, New Franklin, Fulton, Slater, and Marshall.
“The bank continues to do very well and it’s because of the people that are here,” said Don Brown, President of Exchange Bank of Missouri He said the bank’s growth rate over the last 12 months exceeds 20%.
Thirteen Missouri banks were listed in the field of 200 that were ranked. Wood & Huston Bank, which has $965 million in assets, is located in Marshall. It was the only other Mid-Missouri bank to be listed. It was ranked 178th nationwide and 12th in the state.
“Rural banks are generally outperforming urban banks in Missouri these days,” Banker's Caddy President Kirk Briden said.
